Meet Jerry, Optometric Physician
Dr. Jerry M. Winston received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1967 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee after attending Lincoln Memorial and the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Jerry began practicing with his father, Dr. Harold J. Winston, in 1968. He has been a member of the America Optometric Association for many years, both as a student and a practicing professional. He also is affiliated with the Tennessee Academy of Optometrists, is a member of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and a past president of the East Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.
Dr. Jerry has spent many years serving the community. He is a former president of the Knoxville Junior Chamber of Commerce, and was National Director of Tennessee for the JayCees. He is a member of the Downtown Knoxville Sertoma Club and has served in nearly all its offices. He has served as the vice president of the Arnstein Jewish Community Center and superintendent of the religious school for Temple Beth El.
In his spare time, Dr. Jerry loves anything to do with cars, including building them, racing them, repairing them, and showing them. He has raced with NASCAR, CanAm, Trans Am, and IMSA. He is a past SCCA race and held a national license. Under his IMSA and FIA license, he ran 24 hours of Daytone on tow occassions. He also ran 5 NASCAR races in the early 1980s. Before racing cars, he bred Appaloosa horses and conducted the Appaloosa Horse Show at Chilhowee Park in the 1970s.
Dr. Jerry also enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa, three sons, two daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren.
